Dosakaya Tomato Chutney ( Yellow Cucumber Tomato Chutney)

You all know my love towards chutneys. So in today's post I am going to share with you all spicy chutney recipe using Dosakaya or Yellow Cucumber.

This chutney goes well with idly, dosa, uttapam and even rice as well.

So why late..let get started 

Below are the ingredients required to make this recipe.

Ingredients

1. Dosakaya --1 medium size

2. Tomato -- 4 medium size

3. Urad dal -- 2 tablespoons

4. Mustard seeds -- 1 tablespoon

5. Dry red chili -- 5

6. Green chili -- 6

7. Tamarind -- small lemon size

8. Salt -- 1 tablespoon( adjust as per your taste)

9. Turmeric -- 1/2 teaspoon

10. Hing -- 1/4 teaspoon

11. Jaggery -- small lemon size

12. Oil -- 2 tablespoons

Preparation:

1. Wash dosakaya or yellow cucumber nicely under running water.Cut it into 2 halves , remove the seeds and cut it into small pieces.

2. Similarly cut tomatoes into small pieces and keep them aside.

3. Place a pan on the stove, add 1 teaspoon of oil and heat it for a minute.

4. Add dosakaya pieces , turmeric, a pinch of salt and saute it for 2 minutes.

5. Next add chopped green chili and stir nicely.

6. Cover the pan with a lid and cook dosakaya pieces for 5 minutes.

7. Now add tomato pieces and mix all the ingredients nicely.

8. Cover and cook the mixture for another 5 minutes.

9. Next add tamarind and cook the mixture till it becomes soft.

10. Once the mixture is soft then dish it out into a plate and cool it down.


11. Now in the same pan add little amount of oil , add urad dal and fry for 2 minutes.

13. Then add dry red chili and saute them for 2 minutes.

14. Take a mixer jar, add all the ingredients, salt and grind into a smooth paste.

15. For tempering  ---- place a pan on stove add oil and let it heat for 1 minute. Add mustard seeds and let it splitter for 1 minute
then add hing and switch of the stove
add tempering to the chutney paste and mix it nicely.

That's it tasty and yummy chutney is ready to serve.


Eat it with piping hot rice with sambar and papad as side dish. Trust me it tastes awesome.
