Raw Tomato Pickle(Pachi Tomato Avakaya)






Hi friends. Good afternoon. Today I am going to share with you a tasty pickle recipe which can be prepared within 20 minutes and can be stored in an air tight container. This pickle will last up to 1 month if you keep away from water. 

If you are an Indian then definitely you will feel connected with the word “pickle”, because once you open the jar that heavenly smell of pickle will remind your mother and home. Now days everyone is going abroad for higher studies or after marriage or for job opportunities and miss homemade pickles. 

Even though you carry them while going abroad they may last up to only 1 month. I personally miss my mother’s homemade mango pickles. So, I learned this recipe from my mother -in -law and thought of sharing it with you. 
The recipe name is – “Raw Tomato Pickle”.

                                                                    
For preparing this tasty homemade pickle we need the below ingredients:

1.Raw tomatoes – 10.
2.Rai powder/Avapindi – 1cup.
3.Chilli powder – 3/4 cup.
4.Salt –  1/4 cup.
5.Hing powder/Inguva – 1 teaspoon.
6.Tumeric powder/Pasupu – 1 teaspoon.
7.Oil – 1cup.



Preparation:

1.Take a napkin and clean the tomatoes. Do not wash them just clean them with cloth.

2.Cut the tomatoes into medium pieces as shown below.

                                                             
3.Now take a bowl (free from moist and water) and mix all the specified quantities of Avapindi, Chili powder, Salt, Turmeric, Hing powder like below. I used the small glass shown in the picture as measuring quantity for all the ingredients, the full glass is equal to 1 cup.
                                                            
4.Once mixing of all the ingredients is done then add oil to the mixture and mix all the ingredients well like below.

                                                             
5.The oil and powder should be mixed well like below.

                                                                
6.Then add the tomato pieces into this mixture and mix well using a spoon such that all the powdered part sticks evenly to all the tomato pieces like below.

                                                                  
7.After 3 hours you can eat the pickle. After 1 day the pickle will look like below, nice juicy and tasty.

                                                     

That’s it tasty and yummy Raw tomato pickle is done.  So easy right, you can prepare it in the morning and by evening the pickle will be tasty and juicy. This will be good and lasts up to 1month if kept away from water and use a separate spoon which is free from water or moist while serving this pickle.


Note:   If Avapindi is not available in your area, then you can instantly prepare it at your home. You need the below ingredients:

1.     Rai/Avalu/Mustard seeds – 1 cup.
2.     Dry chili – 10 to 15.
3.     Salt – 1 and half tablespoon.
4.     Turmeric – 1 teaspoon.
5.     Hing powder/Inguva – 1 teaspoon.


Add all the above stated ingredients into a mixture jar and grind them into a fine powder.

Take a bowl, transfer the homemade Avapindi into it, add oil and mix the powder and oil well. Add medium chopped tomato pieces into the mixture and mix all the ingredients well. Yummy and tasty tomato pickle is ready.

Taste will slightly differ between homemade Avapindi and Avapindi brought in super market.
