Groundnut Tomato Chutney

Hi friends. Welcome to Bilvani’s kitchen. In today’s post, I am going to share with you all a tasty chutney recipe.
I already posted Ground nut chutney recipe in my blog. Now for the same recipe we will just add a tangy twist.
I am an ardent lover of chutneys and try to experiment different variety of chutneys at home.
So now for the tangy twist we will replace tamarind with ripe tomatoes. Trust me your family will love this chutney.

This goes well with all variety of breakfast recipies like idly, dosa, uttapam, upma and requires very less time for preparation.
  
So today’s recipe name is Groundnut tomato chutney, and below are the ingredients required for preparing the yummy chutney.
Ingredients:

1. Groundnuts -- 1 cup.
2. Mustard seeds -- 1 tea spoon.
3. Green chilies -- 5 to 6.
4. Tomato – 3 - 4 ripe tomatoes.
5. Chana dal – 1 teaspoon.
6. Urad dal – 1 teaspoon.
7. Jeera – 1 teaspoon.
8. Turmeric – a pinch.
9. Salt -- 1 tablespoon.
10. Oil -- 2 tablespoons.
11. Curry leaves -- 5 leaves.
12. Dry red chili -- 1 to 2 (optional).

Procedure:
1.Place a pan on the stove , add groundnuts and dry roast them till they turn little brown .

                              
2. Once the groundnuts are roasted, then transfer them to a plate and let it cool for 5 minutes.

3. Now in the same pan, add 2 tablespoons of oil and let it heat for a minute.

4. Once oil is heated, then add green chili, urad dal, chana dal, jeera and fry them for 2 minutes and transfer them to a plate.

5. Now in the same pan add 1 teaspoon of oil and add mustard seeds and curry leaves to it and fry them for 1 minute. Once fried transfer them to a plate and let them cool.

6. Now in the same pan again add 1 teaspoon of oil, add medium chopped tomato pieces and fry them for 2 minutes.

7. Add turmeric and a pinch of salt to the tomatoes and mix nicely. Close the pan with a lid and let tomatoes cook for 5 minutes.

8. Once tomatoes turn soft and mushy, switch of the stove and transfer contents to a plate. Let tomato mixture cool completely.
                                 

9. Now take a mixer jar, first add fried groundnuts, green chili, urad dal, chana dal, jeera and grind nicely.
             



10. Next add tomato paste, add the remaining amount of salt (adjust as per your taste) and grind the mixture into smooth fine paste.
               
                 



 11. Transfer the chutney to a bowl and add mustard and curry leaves tempering to it.

                            
 That’s it tasty and tangy Groundnut tomato chutney is ready to serve.
