Mango Chana Dal Chutney

The summer season is on and we all are experiencing the heat waves. Well summer season means not just heat, sweat, thirst and all.

To the other side the coin we have yummy mangoes with which we can prepare pickles, lassi, milkshakes, cakes, juices, to relax and recharge ourselves from scorching heat of the sun.

And above all the summer season is famous for pickles, all moms and grandmas will be busy preparing variety of tasty pickles with mangoes.

But people who are staying away from home may not be able to prepare pickles, but still want to relish the taste.

So in today’s post I am going to share with you chutney recipe with mango, which is super easy and can be prepared as quick as a wink.

It goes well with rice/idly/dosa/vada/pakoda what not, you can use this chutney as side dish for any snack. I will have it chapathi as well because the chutney will be that tasty and tangy.

So why late, let’s get started. You require below ingredients for preparing the yummy and tangy mango chutney.

Ingredients:

1. Raw mango (medium ripe)
2. Roasted chana dal – 4 teaspoons.
3. Jaggery – small lemon size.
4. Mustard seeds/Rai – 1 teaspoon.
5. Fenugreek/menthulu –1 teaspoon.
6. Dry red chili – 5
7. Hing powder – a pinch
8. Salt – as per you taste
9. Oil – 2 teaspoons

 


Procedure:

1. Peel the outer skin of mango and cut it into small pieces as shown in the picture.
    Note: You need to choose a half ripe mango for this chutney to feel the tangy as well as sweet flavor.
2. Place a pan on the stove, add 2 teaspoons of oil and heat it for a minute.
3. Now add mustard seeds to the oil and let them splutter for a minute.
4. Next add fenugreek seeds, dry red chili and fry them for a minute. Do not burn them.
5. Switch off the stove and add a pinch of Hing to the hot oil.
6. Take a mixer jar add  mango pieces, roasted chana dal, dry red chili, salt and grind it once.
7. Now add Jaggery to it and once again grind it in to a smooth paste.
8. Transfer the smooth paste to a bowl, add the mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds along with oil and mix nicely so the flavor mixes well.

                   

That’s it tasty and tangy mango chutney recipe is ready to serve.
It can be prepared within 15 minutes and can be served with idly, dosa, snacks etc.
