Today I am back with another tasty and spicy curry recipe. In my previous post I explained a tasty curry with brinjal.
Today I am going to explain a curry using Dondakaya/Tindora/Ivy gourd.
For all Ivy gourd lovers this curry is a feast to your taste buds.
This is a simple dry curry recipe which goes well with plain rice and having sambar as side dish will enhance the taste of this curry.
For preparing this dry saute you require fresh and tender dondakaya or ivy gourd.
Below are the ingredients required for preparing this curry.
Ingredients:
1. Dondakaya/Ivy gourd/ Tindora - 250g.
2. Salt - as per your taste.
3. Turmeric - ½ tea spoon.
4. Chilli powder - 1 tablespoon.
5. Menthipowder - 1 tablespoon.
6. Oil - 2 to 3 tablespoons.
Preparation:
1. First wash dondakaya/ivy gourd nicely under running water.
2. Next chop of the edges and cut them in + slit/ vertical slit lengthwise from both ends.
3. Take a pressure cooker,add some water and dondakaya/ ivy gourd pieces into it. Season it with some salt and turmeric.
4. Steam them for 2 to 3 whistles and let it cool down.
5. Strain off the excess water and keep the dondakaya / ivy gourd pieces aside.
6. Now take a pan, add 2 tablespoons of oil and let it heat for a minute.
7. Now add cooked dondakaya/ ivy gourd pieces into the kadai,add little amount of salt as per your taste and fry them till golden brown.
8. Once the dondakaya/ ivy gourd is nicely fried then sprinkle some chilli powder and menthi powder and mix them well.
9. Close the pan for a minute until the aroma of menthi powder sticks to the curry.
10. Transfer the hot and spicy dondakaya/ivy gourd fry curry into a plate.Now its ready to serve to your family.
You can have it with plain rice and sambar or rasam.

This curry can be prepared within 20 minutes and so is a good recipe for lunch box.
As you can observe this curry requires very less amount of oil to cook,hence it is good for diabetic and diet following people too.

1.For preparation of menthi powder you can check it under powders section.
2.You need to use tender dondakaya/ivy gourd for this curry.
3.If you have ripe dondakaya/ivy gourd then no need to throw them out,you can make a tasty chutney out of it.You can check it under the chutneys section.
