Spicy Dondakaya Ulli Karam/Tindora gravy curry


Hi friends.Good afternoon.I am back with another hot and spicy curry recipe. Actually I am bored of having cabbage/cauliflower/potato curry as a side dish for chapathi.

So today I tried a bit different and cooked this curry.This can be cooked in 20 minutes and trust me your family will love it.

 Chalo Why late?.Lets get into the procedure of making this curry which is nothing but Dondakaya ulli karam.

Ingredients:

1. Dondakaya/Tindora -1 cup.
2. Onions - 3 big size.
3. Tomato -  1 big.
4. Red chili -  8 to 10.
5. Ginger - small piece.
6. Garlic - 3 cloves.
7. Dhaniya -2 tablespoons.
8. Jeera - 1 tablespoon.
9. Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon.
10.Salt - 2 tablespoons.
11.Oil - 5 tablespoons.


     


















Preparation:

1.Take the Tindora/Dondakaya and cut them into long pieces.

2.Now add all the Tindora/Dondakaya pieces into a pressure cooker and add some water,half spoon of salt,and pinch of turmeric. Keep it on the stove and let it cook for 5 whistles.

3.Now drain out  the remaining water and set aside the cooked tindora pieces.
 
                             

4.Take mixer jar,add dhaniya,jeera, red chilli's and grind them into fine powder.Now add garlic,ginger,salt and chopped onion pieces and grind them into fine paste like below.

                                 

5.Place a pan on the stove ,add 5 tablespoons of oil and let it heat for a minute.Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.

6.Once spluttering is done then add finely chopped onions and fry them until they turn golden brown.

                                  

7.Then add the onion paste into the pan and let it fry for 10 minutes until all the water evaporates and oil oozes out of the paste like below.

                    
 

8.Once the onion paste is fried then add finely chopped tomatoes and let them cook for 2 minutes.

                                   

9.Once the tomatoes becomes soft then add precooked tindora pieces and mix all the ingredients well.

                                   

10.Now add little amount of water and mix all the ingredients well and cover it with a lid and cook for 2 minutes.

                                     

11. Adjust the water in the curry as per your taste and requirement. Then its ready to serve to your family.

                                   

Thats it spicy tindora/dondakaya curry is ready to eat.You can eat it with chapathi or rice.
