Hi friends,
Good Morning and, here I am to share with you a nice crispy dosa recipe which
is nothing but South Indian special dosa called Pesarattu.
Many people
make this dosa using yellow moong dal but here in my recipe I tried using green
moong dal (Pesalu) and it turned out well. So, I thought of sharing this recipe
with you all. The reason for using green moong dal is because of its health
benefits namely:
·
High
in protein
·
Low
fat.
·
Low
calories and cholesterol.
·
Easily
digestible
·
Anti-inflammatory
(can reduce inflammation)
·
Contains
oligosaccharides to prevent gas and bloating, unlike other beans
·
Containing
considerable amounts of fiber, thereby preventing constipation
For making
of this recipe the below ingredients needed are:
1. Green moong dal(Pesalu) –3 cups.
2. Green chilies(Pachimirapakayalu) – finely chopped
3. Dry red chilies (Endu mirapakayalu) -
2.
4. Ginger – medium chopped.
5. Onion – finely chopped.
6. Jeera (Jeela karra) – 2 teaspoons.
7. Salt – as per your taste.
8. Rice – ½ cup.
9. Coriander (Kothi Meera) – finely
chopped.
10.Garlic – 2 to 3 clove(optional).
Important: For preparation of dosa batter you
need to soak this Green Moong dal overnight if you want to have it for
breakfast or in the morning if you want it for dinner. Soak half a cup of rice
along with green moong dal. This adds crispiness to the dosa.
Preparation:
1. Clean the soaked green moong dal
under running water and strain all the water from the container.
2. Transfer the moong dal into mixer
jar, add ginger, dry red chilies (you can add more if you want it to be spicy) and
garlic cloves.
3.Grind all the ingredients and add
water accordingly until it turns out in a thick dosa batter consistency like
shown below. Do not add more water.
4.Now add jeera and salt as per your
taste and mix the batter well.
5. Place the tawa on stove and heat it
for 2 minutes.
6. Once the tawa is heated add tiny
amounts of oil and spread it across the tawa using spatula, then take a small
amount of batter and spread the dosa batter evenly on the tawa. Sprinkle finely
chopped onions, green chilies and finely chopped coriander on top of dosa.
7. Add tiny amounts of oil on the edges
of dosa so that it can be flipped easily to the other side.
8. Flip the dosa to the other side using
spatula and evenly cook the dosa on both sides till it turns a slight brown on
both sides.
9. Once the dosa is nicely cooked on
both sides, transfer it into plate.
Yummy and
tasty Pesarattu is ready to eat. You can eat it with coconut chutney.
So simple
right😀! This recipe can be cooked within 30 mins if you have all the ingredients
in your kitchen.
