Urad Dal Laddu ( Sunnunda)

Hi all, Good Morning. It’s festival time in Andhra and most of you may go to your hometown to celebrate Sankranti with your family.  All grandma’s will be busy making variety of sweets and snacks for their grandchildren with lots of love.

So today I am going to share an easy sweet recipe which I learned from my grandmother. It is prepared using Urad dal and you just need 30 mins to make this recipe.

It is very easy and healthy recipe and just need 5 ingredients which are easily available in our kitchen.

The recipe name is Sunnunda or Minapasunni or Urad Dal Laddu. It is a famous sweet in the states of Andhra and Telangana.

Now coming into making of this dish, you need the below ingredients:

1.Urad dal –  2 cups
2.Rice -- 1/8 cup
3. Sugar – 2 cups
4.Ghee – 1 and half cup
5.Elachi – 2 teaspoons

Preparation:
1.     Take a pan and put it on the stove. Pour 2 cups of Urad dal in it and slowly dry roast till it turns brown like shown below. Transfer it to a plate.

2.     Now add 1/8 cup of rice and dry roast till it turns brown like shown below. Transfer it to a plate.

3.     Now let these cool down for 15 minutes.

4.     Once they cooled down, transfer it to mixer jar and grind both Urad dal and rice into fine smooth powder. Transfer it to a big bowl or box.

5.     Now take sugar and grind into fine smooth powder. After finely grounded then add elachi powder to it and mix well.

6.Now add this sugar and elachi powder to the Urad dal, rice mixture and mix all the ingredients well.

7. Heat the ghee on the stove and pour hot ghee into this mixture. Less amount of ghee will be sufficient if you use hot ghee, if the ghee is cold then more amount is needed.

8. Mix the mixture using spatula because the ghee will be hot. Mix until it turns into a paste as shown below. Add sufficient amount of ghee until you are able to make small balls out of it.

9. Once the mixing is done, then make small bowls with you hand like shown below.

Tasty and yummy Sunnunda or Minapasunni or Urad Dal laddu is ready. It takes maximum 30 mins if you have all the ingredients. It’s my favorite sweet because of its taste and health benefits.

Trust me definitely your children will love this sweet. I am so sure because the smile my 10 months old princess gave after eating this sweet made my day😁.
