Hi friends, Good afternoon. Thank you for supporting me with your views, likes and comments. It means a lot to me and your support encourages me to come up with new variety of recipes.
I assume you are all aware of
Dondakaya/Tindora/ Ivy gourd whatever you call it in your language. We normally
make tasty fry or gravy curry out of it.
Most of the people throw red or ripe
Dondakaya/Tindora into the dustbin because curry made from them wont taste good, but from today after
reading this recipe no one will throw away the ripe tindora.
Because we are going to make
nice tasty chutney out of it. So, I think now you all can guess the recipe name
which is nothing but “Dondakaya
Chutney”.
This is very easy recipe and can
be done within 15 minutes.
Below are ingredients required for
preparing this chutney:
1. Dondakaya – you can mix ripe as
well as unripe one too.
2. Mustard seeds/Avalu. – 1
teaspoon.
3. Green chili(Pachimirapakayalu) –
4 medium chopped.
4. Dry red chili (Endu
mirapakayalu) – 2.
5. Garlic -- 10 cloves.
6. Chana dal(Senagapappu) – 2
teaspoons.
7. Urad dal(Minapappu) – 2
teaspoons.
7. Salt – as per taste.
8. Tamarind(Chintapandu) – small
lemon size.
9. Oil – 5 tablespoons.
Preparation:
1.
Cut the Dondakaya/Tindora into small pieces as shown.
2.
Place a pan on the stove, add 3 tablespoons of oil, let it heat
for a minute. Once the oil is heated add the Dondakaya/Tindora pieces and let them fry
for 5minutes.
3.
Once the Dondakaya/Tindora is half fried add medium chopped green chili
and fry along with Dondakaya/Tindora. Stir the contents of the pan in small intervals
such that they do not over fry.

4. Once the Dondakaya is fried, transfer it to a plate and them
cool down for 10 minutes.
5.
Meanwhile place the pan on the stove, add 2 tablespoons of
oil and let it heat for a minute. Once the oil is heated, add few mustard seeds
and let it splutter for a minute.
6.
After spluttering of mustard seeds, add Chana dal, Urad dal, dry
chilly, and garlic cloves and let them fry until they turn brownish. Transfer
them to a plate and cool them down.
7.
Transfer fried Dondakaya, green chili, dry red chili,
tamarind, salt, some garlic cloves and grinds them into a paste.
8.
Transfer the paste into a bowl and mix the leftover mixture
(mustard seeds, Chana and Urad dal) to the paste.
Tasty and yummy Dondakaya chutney
is ready to serve. This goes well with dosa, idly and even rice too.
So, if you have any ripe Dondakaya/Tindora in your fridge right now then don't throw away, instead make nice and yummy
